Rally to support Birthing Center
Tuesday, July 14, before 10:45 am
Organizer: AFT Vermont
Location: Brattleboro Memorial Hospital
According to the Brattleboro Reformer and AFT Vermont, Healthcare workers at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, alongside patients, families and community partners, will rally outside BMH Tuesday morning at 10:45 a.m. before attending the hospital’s Board of Directors meeting at 11 a.m.
Organizers are asking people to park in the lot behind the Brattleboro House of Pizza to leave space for patients at the hospital.
The BMH Board of Directors voted on June 30 to close the Birthing Center within six to nine months unless significant financial support can be secured. The closure would eliminate essential labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn services in southeastern Vermont, leaving Windham and Windsor counties without a hospital-based birthing center.
