Rapid Response

Sometimes an action is, by necessity, called quickly in response to current events. The Brattleboro vigil in response to the Tree of Life synagogue shooting in October 2018 is an example. WeCAN uses the Song & Solidarity Rapid Response system to send out TEXT messages notifying members in a timely manner of local actions. We are grateful to Song & Solidarity for this service.
MoveOn.org is closely following Republican President Trump and the moves towards firing Mueller. In the event Mueller is fired, MoveOn is planning a nation-wide simultaneous protest. The trick will be to get the word out fast if/when the time comes. To that end we can use the Song & Solidarity Rapid Response system to send out TXT messages.
There are three ways to get your address on the Rapid Response system list. That system uses a free service called “Remind.” It is geared to teachers and students, but it meets our needs.
1. If you have a smartphone, open your web browser to this address:
And follow the instructions to sign up for Remind. You’ll be prompted to download a mobile app, but that is not necessary.
2. If you do not have a smartphone, but your phone will accept TXT messages, then text the message “@songso” (without the quotes) to 336-218-6141.
3. If you do not have a mobile phone but can receive e-mail messages on a computer, then on that computer open a browser and go to rmd.at/songso and sign up for e-mail messages.
If you have trouble, send an e-mail to [email protected] and we will try to help.
