Brattleboro Indivisible is having its next group meeting on Saturday, August 2. We’re a local chapter of the national organization – fighting for democracy, combating fascism, and fighting back in defense of our rights, our communities, and our values. We work through five action groups, enabling members to lead and contribute to activities that most interest and energize them. Our action groups focus on: Organizing direct actions such as marches, protests, sit-ins, and strategic boycotts Supporting and partnering with already existing local rapid response teams in response to ICE targeting members of our community Grassroots power-building, voter engagement, local coalition-building, and policy influence Raising awareness within our communities and pushing back against disinformation Building mutual aid networks and support structures
Our monthly meeting is an opportunity for members to connect, share updates, and take action.

Wanna have some fun together making some Good Trouble with a HUGE Human Banner caught on drone footage? Use your body in protest of the current policies and violations of human rights and dignity.
Join us for a community human banner-making event. Bring a picnic supper and water and stay after for a picnic. We will have baked goods, RESIST yard signs and RESIST buttons for sale. Parking is limited, so plan accordingly. Rain date is Aug. 10.

| Non Violent Direct Action (NVDA) TrainingFriday, 8/29/2025, Exact Time TBD Organizer: WeCAN Location: West Brattleboro
Steve Crofter and Laurel Green are conducting a series of half-day nonviolent direct action (NVDA) trainings in Southeastern Vermont. They have decades of experience using nonviolent action. This is an early notice that they are offering NVDA training to increase the discipline and effectiveness of people trying to make a positive difference in climate, democracy, and social justice issues.
The training will include: Finding courage to act, The effectiveness of nonviolence, How to make social change in solidarity with others, And more!
The training is a great opportunity to bring together folks from many local movements including Third Actors, Indivisible folks, people working on Gaza, democracy, climate and immigration. All are welcome.
The August 29 training will end early enough to allow participants to join in either or both of the long-standing Brattleboro Friday afternoon protests on the I-91 bridge and at The Common.
As an option, the group could decide to spend some extra time to plan an actual event for the following Monday, Labor Day.
Pre-registration will be required and a registration link will be published in next week’s WeCAN.

We are putting in an order for 100 signs and will sell them for a suggested donation of $15 a piece ($10 is materials cost, $5 donation to Brattleboro Indivisible).

| Another source for posters, signs and ideasJon Sachs, a Swing Blue Alliance member is pouring energy into a Trump Tragedies website that has a page devoted to free, downloadable 8.5 x 11 in. protest-themed posters. These are protest messaging that can be posted on America’s streets and easily shared by a website link could help get much more protest messaging in the public eye. Eighteen posters are now available on the site. There’s also an online suggestion box for additional posters that people think should be added.
