PROTEST: “ICE Out For Good”1/11/26 Pliny Park
When: Sunday, 1:00 PM 1/11/26
Where: Pliny Park, Main Street, Brattleboro, VT

Why: A peaceful, song-filled vigil at Pliny Park tonight was attended by about 200 people honoring the life of Renee Nicole Good, killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 7. Brattleboro locals will gather again on Sunday at Pliny Park in conjunction with a wide coalition of groups calling for a nationwide weekend of action. We will protest the broader pattern of unchecked violence and abuse leading to all of the deaths caused by ICE and DHS over the last year. The coalition organizing “ICE Out For Good” includes Indivisible and the American Civil Liberties Union, which demands accountability and exposes “the broader pattern of ICE violence–including the 30+ lives lost in ICE detention in 2025.”

We honor and humanize the lost lives of our larger community. We offer space for grief and solidarity as well as outrage over this ongoing tragedy. We support collective action by strengthening local connections and neighborhood response systems. We continue to raise our voices and express our First Amendment rights in a peaceful manner.

While condemning the devastating and predictable result of ICE’s lawless operations and President Trump’s abuse of power, we remember all that’s good and right about this nation”, as Minnesota’s Governor Walz put it, and that we don’t allow “human dignity, respect and rule of law” to be withheld from any individual in the USA.

A core principle behind all Indivisible and Brattleboro Area Action events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.
