I-91 Friday Brattleboro area overpass protests cancelled until further notice.
Organizer: Indivisible Brattleboro
These include:
Vernon, Tyler Hill Road overpass
Brattleboro, Western Ave. Exit 2 overpass
Brattleboro, Black Mountain Road overpass
Putney: Exit 4 overpass
Roads are are too snowy and icy for people to safely stand with banners or signs into the foreseeable future. But there are other alternatives in the area, including at The Common, see below. Other actions will be listed in the next regular WeCAN email on Saturday.
Note the time change: On every Friday at 3 pm for a half hour, there will be people to protest the illegal actions of the Trump administration at both the East and West ends of The Common in Brattleboro (which is on Park Place) from Route 30 to Putney Road. If this time/place is inconvenient for you, consider starting your own protest area/time which works for you!
Organizer: Nancy Braus Location: Pliny Park, Main St., Brattleboro
Brattleboro will join the National Day of Action to oppose the Trump regime’s plan to begin a land war against Venezuela. The preparations are
underway to violently force a regime change in Venezuela.
In addition, with absolutely no evidence, the United States has been murdering fishermen and destroying their vessels with missile strikes, brazenly violating international law by ordering the killing of all survivors.
Join us at Pliny Park in Brattleboro on Saturday, December 6 at 3:00. Bring signs and dress warm.
Location: Westminster, Kurn Hattin Road I-91 overpass south of Exit 5
Weather and roadside conditions permitting, we gather every Sunday afternoon on the Kurn Hattin Road I-91 overpass. If you can’t stay for a full two hours, no problem. Come join us for whatever time you can, engage with others who share your feelings about this out-of-control regime, encourage others to hold them accountable, and make some new friends along the way.
We face north to engage with travelers heading south, many returning from a weekend in Vermont, as well as locals out enjoying their weekend. It’s really important to always think of safety first for our members and the drivers passing to keep us in good standing with the whole community.

Since it appears that feeding the hungry is now an act of political resistance, WeCAN has rounded up information on food resources in the Brattleboro area. Most of these sites could use your support. Also see the Saturday SNAP note below.

SV4P and JVP VT/NH invite you to the second installment of the Education for Liberation Series.
The history of settler colonialism is deeply entangled with the roots of fascism. In both the US and Israel, this connection is rooted in the shared ideologies of racial supremacy, the violent dispossession of Indigenous peoples, and the insatiable desire for land and expansion. This teach-in focuses on getting to the roots of fascism through the context of the Palestinian liberation movement. We will explore the history of settler colonialism and the roots of fascism in the US and Palestine. We ask ourselves: how can we resist on stolen land?
This event will be hybrid, with in-person participants asked to test ahead of time and wear masks. Please register for event location and zoom link.
The next gathering and rehearsal will be held from 3 – 5 on Sunday December 7. Contact songleader Becky Graber to be added to the list to receive information about this and about future events. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come learn some of our core songs.

We work through five action groups, enabling members to lead and contribute to activities that most interest and energize them.
A local Indivisible group for pro-democracy activists in Rockingham, Westminster, Athens and nearby towns. We are working in the areas of migrant support/rapid response, elections, education & outreach, and protests/visibility.
We welcome anyone who wants to help build a strong local presence in a national strategic movement to build a real democracy that upholds progressive values of inclusion, respect and fairness. Our group collaborates with other Indivisible and allied groups in Vermont to extend our reach and effectiveness. If you want to find hope in these difficult times, join us!
