EMERGENCY ORGANIZING MEETING — Stop the War on Iran / Defend the Guard. Organizing meeting with Action Corps this Sunday 3/1 at 2pm at The Works Cafe, on Main Street in Brattleboro, VT, following the 1pm Iran antiwar protest in Pliny Park.

The Pentagon unconstitutionally deployed the Vermont Air National Guard for regime change in Venezuela. Then it unconstitutionally redeployed the Vermont Air National Guard for this aggression in Iran. Our Guard members are in harm’s way. Bring our troops home now. Where are our state reps? Demand they call on the Speaker of the House for an immediate hearing on the Defend the Guard Act and to pass the bill out of the House by March 13, in time for the Senate to take it up.

The Vermont National Guard should be here at home to fight fires, not sent abroad to start them. These deployments violate the U.S. Constitution. The Defend the Guard Act prohibits the deployment of the VT Guard to combat absent congressional authorization— in line with the Constitution. Our legislators must act now to reclaim our Guard.
