NO KINGS 2.0 – BE THE CHANGE

WHERE:  The Commons (brief rally) Main Street sidewalks (both sides) – Library towards the COOP

WHY:  America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.  It’s democracy versus dictatorship.  Together we’re choosing democracy.  More below.

Event Details:  Gather on the Commons.  Two short speeches.  Songs and Chants.  Then march down both sides of Main Street on sidewalks led by music and singing. Hold a half hour solidarity stand-out with chants and songs back and forth across Main Street. Distribute information on actions people can take.

America stands at a crossroads, yearning for rebirth in the image of democracy, inclusion, and freedom. Today, our Lady Liberty is chained, our Blind Lady Justice silenced, and our people torn from their loved ones by forces of tyranny in broad daylight. We the People will not stand idle—we will stand together, united against oppression, to author a new chapter for our nation.

The “Be the Change” rally is a call to action for every neighbor, every voice, to join in rejecting authoritarianism and building a stronger, more inclusive community. This is not just a stand against tyranny—it’s a stand for a democracy that thrives on consent, diversity, and shared purpose.

We stand against tyranny and injustice, but without a plan, we risk nature’s abhorred vacuum.  Democracy is a beautiful experiment in uniting diverse minds through consent. On October 18, we’ll come together to focus on our shared priorities—democracy, inclusion, diversity, and freedom—and let every voice shape a chorus that sings of a shared tomorrow. It won’t be easy or perfect, but together, we’ll build the future with our words and actions.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
