“True patriotism hates injustice in its own land more than anywhere else.” – Clarence Darrow

At the end of this e-mail is some additional information about WeCAN Finances, text messages, links to send us events and a link to sign up for e-mails.

Come with flags and signs supporting Canada as an independent nation and Vermont as an ally forever. And as Canadians for a day, we want to say “Welcome to Canada,” and “Bienvenue au Canada” to the people passing by, or “Elbows Up!” to anyone who thinks Canada should cede its independence to any other country.

Everyone is welcome to join the fun and the demonstration of fellowship with our neighbors to the north. If you’re not within striking distance of Brattleboro, feel free to take this  idea without any need for attribution or credit, and make it happen in your area, too.

Depending on how many people turn up, we may branch out to some other places, too.

Location: The old Hinsdale bridge

Join us for a light breakfast and gathering on the pedestrian/bike bridge from Brattleboro to the island in the Connecticut River — the old Hinsdale bridges.

Then join the Fourth of July parade. Action Corps Vermont and Buddhists for Peace will be walking together again this year—and we’d love for you to join us. Let’s celebrate each other and what we’re working for, while showing our town how strong the grassroots movement for democracy, equity, and human rights really is.

This year we will be joined by Becky Grabers’ “Make Good Trouble Street Choir.”

We’ll meet at the brook side of the Preston lot on Flat Street, near the bridge to the Coop, opposite the transportation center, 9 am to 10 am. The parade committee recommends parking at the Coop.

The march begins at 10 am from Flat Street and up Main Street to the Brattleboro Common.

Indivisible Brattleboro July Meeting

Saturday,  7/12/2025, at 10 am

Organizer: Indivisible Brattleboro

Location will be shared with members via newsletter

Contact us to sign up!

Brattleboro Indivisible is having its next group meeting on Saturday, July 12. We’re a local chapter of the national organization – fighting for democracy, combating fascism, and fighting back in defense of our rights, our communities, and our values. We work through five action groups, enabling members to lead and contribute to activities that most interest and energize them. Our action groups focus on:

  • Organizing direct actions such as marches, protests, sit-ins, and strategic boycotts

  • Supporting and partnering with already existing local rapid response teams in response to ICE targeting members of our community

  • Grassroots power-building, voter engagement, local coalition-building, and policy influence

  • Raising awareness within our communities and pushing back against disinformation

  • Building mutual aid networks and support structures

Our monthly meeting is an opportunity for members to connect, share updates, and take action.

The filmmakers need to raise at least $3,000 for the sound mix and other finishing funds!

“Braiding A New Life: From Ghana To The Green Mountains” is a 36-minute documentary portrait of an asylum seeker, Sarah, as she navigates life in Southern Vermont. We follow Sarah as she learns to drive with the help of a local volunteer, braids her friend Dora’s hair, chats on the local radio station, listens to a Congolese refugee band at a house show in Vernon, shops at an African grocery in Springfield, MA, and prepares for her asylum case hearing with CASP’s support. The film is a love letter to Brattleboro and a passionate portrait of reciprocity, mutual aid, and the value of cross-cultural friendships and diverse community.  Above all, this is a portrait of a community that weaves a shining net of support in relationship to one another and in commitment to a world in which immigrants are welcomed, valued and respected.

These are protest messaging that can be posted on America’s streets and easily shared by a website link could help get much more protest messaging in the public eye.
